Bartlett High School Promo Video

Project overview

Bartlett High School, The CTE Foundation and The Bartlett Chamber hired V2 Media to produce a high-quality, long lasting, promotional video about the courses their students are able to take to help promote jobs in the workforce. These jobs would include subjects like, Car Mechanics, Web Development / Graphic Design, Medical Device Machinery, Culinary Classes, Nursing Classes and so much more. BHS invested millions of dollars into these state of the art classrooms and machines to make sure the student was getting the best education for that specific industry. I was the lead videographer and editor on this project. I believe what BHS has done and continue to achieve is amazing and exactly what our students need to find a happy and successful career path.

The Filming Process

  • With the help of BHS, we gathered over 15 people to interview for this video. We wanted opinions and statements from both teachers, students, and professionals in those current industries.
  • I first started my team on filming as much B-Roll as we could get. This would allow me to have multiple shots during the editing phase.
  • We conducted most of our interviews in their newly built library. I had one team member ask prompt questions to the interviewees while I worked on the camera, lighting and answered questions from other team members.
  • I used a shotgun mic since we were in a quite place and we had the area to do it.
  • Each interview lasted between 10-20minutes.
  • In total, we filmed at BHS for a week to collect everything we needed.

The Editing Process

  • After each shoot I would upload the video and audio onto my hard drive and V2 Media's cloud for extra precaution.
  • Once we had collected all of the interviews and B-Roll I would separate the videos and go through each in great detail.
  • I included the best sound bites that explained what BHS was doing, how much they have achieved and what their future looked like.
  • After editing down all the interviews and selecting the best sound bites I started to piece them together
  • The vision behind this video was to not only showcase and promote the school but also recruit students to come
  • Once I had my storyline in place with the interview videos I moved into the B-Roll
  • As I edited and listened to what was being said I would select a b-roll clip that best described their piece.
  • Once I had a first draft put together I started putting their titles together in After Effects
  • Finally, when I finish a video I add in music that fits best.

Overall, this is one of my favorite videos to have directed, and edited.
